The Opportunity
This role requires a highly experienced Principal Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineer to lead EC&I design activities across a portfolio of engineering projects. The position involves producing, reviewing and assuring engineering deliverables across concept, preliminary and detailed design phases, as well as supporting installation and commissioning queries.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, guide integrated design teams, and ensure that all EC&I engineering outputs meet required standards, regulations and project milestones.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
Design Leadership
Lead and take full responsibility for the delivery of EC&I design work packages.
Work within a small integrated design team to deliver design outputs in line with agreed milestones.
Independently determine project requirements and ensure design solutions meet functional, safety and regulatory needs.
Technical Delivery
Produce and check engineering deliverables across all design phases.
Review and verify EC&I documentation produced by senior designers.
Contribute to multi?discipline design documentation including (but not limited to):
Project Requirements Documents
Basis of Design
Project Verification Plans
Quality Plans
Design Justification Reports
Planning & Control
Estimate engineering hours for scope changes or additional work.
Provide input to discipline schedules and progress reporting.
Support and contribute to formal Design Reviews.
Compliance & Governance
Produce reports and documentation in line with CDM requirements.
Ensure all design activities comply with relevant standards, regulations and internal management systems.
Interface effectively with design teams, facility teams, systems engineering and wider project functions throughout all project phases.
You will have the following qualifications & experience:
Proven experience managing and leading design delivery teams.
Strong background in machinery safety and UKCA marking.
Demonstrable experience in process instrumentation design.
Electrical power and LV services design capability.
Clear understanding of required deliverables and design processes across EC&I disciplines.
Experience delivering within structured management systems.
Competence in estimating, scheduling and progress reporting.
Strong collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multi?discipline teams.
It’s great if you also have the following
Experience with programmable electronic systems.
Knowledge of radiometric instrumentation.
