Bereavement Services Assistant Manager
Provide a high quality customer‑focused front‑of‑house service for cremations, strewing cremated remains and burials.
Responsibilities
* Operate cremation plant and equipment, ensuring an efficient, economical and compliant service in line with relevant codes of practice and statutory requirements.
* Deliver excellent service on every occasion – no ‘second chance’ is acceptable.
* Communicate with bereaved people, exercising high levels of tact, diplomacy and empathy in difficult and detailed situations.
* Work required shift patterns, including weekends and bank holidays, and must be able to assist and step into all roles within the service as required.
* Perform duties on site; attendance in person is necessary to meet task demands and to respond to urgent circumstances.
* Maintain a current first aid qualification, ensuring readiness to provide immediate assistance if required.
* Execute work that involves physical effort, such as lifting and awkward positions, in a hot indoor environment and outdoors exposed to the elements.
Qualifications
* Hold the Intermediate Cremator Operators Certificate – the qualification must be obtained within the six‑month probationary period for continued employment. Candidates without the certificate may be considered for a trainee role, progressing to a higher grade upon successful completion of training.
* Maintain a valid first aid qualification throughout employment.
* Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and bank holidays, and to operate effectively in a 24‑hour service environment.
