This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Senior Administrator/Medical Secretary to join our friendly team at Alexander House, Knaresborough. Our team provides essential compassionate mental health support and care to older people in the local area. Alexander House is located in the historic market and spa town of Knaresborough, just a 10-minute walk from the town centre, with free onsite parking.
As a vital part of the Harrogate Memory team, you will work in the office alongside another medical secretary and be supported by our welcoming team secretary. Your role involves close collaboration with the consultant, junior medical staff, and advanced nurse practitioners to support our Trust's mission of creating a great experience for patients, carers, and families.
We are seeking someone with previous experience as a medical secretary, clinical secretary, or personal assistant, confident in using IT systems daily. The ideal candidate thrives in a busy, dynamic environment and is eager to contribute to a team making a real difference.
The role is part-time, 22.5 hours per week, job share working Wednesday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a colleague who is passionate about helping people, committed to delivering excellent customer service, and interested in working within healthcare. You should have a 'can do' attitude.
This role is central to the multidisciplinary team, working closely with nurses, consultants, junior doctors, psychologists, and management to ensure they have the administrative support needed to provide the best patient care. You should be comfortable multitasking in a busy setting, capable of supervising other admin staff, and confident in communication and relationship-building. Prioritising workload and understanding the challenges of mental health care are essential.
Your main responsibilities include providing comprehensive administrative support to the consultant and medical team, such as digital dictation or copy typing of patient letters, managing diaries, minute-taking, and accurately recording sensitive information on Trust systems. The starting salary is £27,485, increasing to £30,162 after three years (pro-rata), with a generous NHS pension scheme.
