Offer description

We're engineering careers. And we're looking for people to come and help build the future of McCain.

If you're an active problem solver who loves to see their projects come to life, a career in engineering could be for you!

We're looking for the next generation of engineering talent who want practical experience in a fast-paced environment. You'll work alongside our highly skilled maintenance engineers shadowing them and learning how we operate a smooth-running operation.

The McCain Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme is a four-year multi-skilled programme – available at our site in Wombourne

The full first year of the apprenticeship will be based at our Training Providers Technical Centre in Coventry undertaking practical and theoretical engineering training.

You'll work towards completing multi-skilled Level 3 Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Diplomas, alongside the Mechatronics apprenticeship pathway. The scheme will also offer training in modules bespoke to McCain and the potato industry.

On-site, you'll benefit from working alongside a team of highly skilled maintenance engineers, assisting on an exciting range of engineering challenges in the factory.

Don't worry, we won't pay you in chips! For working here you'll get a great salary as well as some pretty good benefits including:

* An excellent pension where we will pay double what you do, up to a maximum of 12% of your pay
* Rail Card for Year 1 travel
* Optional health cash plan
* Cycle to work scheme
* And of course, being part of a Global business there are great opportunities to shine/thrive should you wish to relocate in the future.

Entry Requirements

Minimum 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grades 5 and upwards including Maths, English, and Science.

Training to be Provided

* Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
* BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Knowledge)
* Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Development Competence)

Things to Consider

Working in a factory can be noisy, so ear defenders must be worn. You may work in hot, cold, or wet areas, and PPE is provided as needed. Occasionally, you may work beyond normal hours to complete tasks or support company/apprenticeship events, including some evening work.

Working at McCain offers lots of potential future opportunities including:

• Growing to senior positions and getting involved with exciting projects.

• Moving into other departments and exploring an even wider range of work.

• Developing your leadership skills and becoming a McCain leader, making decisions on how we operate and creating a great working environment.
