Julian House is a charity dedicated to making a difference to the lives of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society. We run several projects and every year we help thousands of people out of homelessness, into employment, away from domestic abuse, and more.

Job Role: Support Worker

Salary: £20,188 per year (FTE £25,235)

Hours: Part-time 30 hours a week

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Basingstoke

The Role

As a Support Worker, you'll play a vital frontline role—managing referrals, assessing needs, and empowering clients to sustain their accommodation and make meaningful, lasting changes in their lives. You'll build strong, collaborative relationships with partner agencies to ensure seamless, multi-agency support planning. With every interaction, you’ll be responsible for capturing accurate, timely records that reflect the progress and impact of your support.

Responsibilities Include

* Complete detailed and thorough sign-ups to ensure that new clients moving into the service understand their rights and responsibilities and the conditions of their license agreement and have a valid Housing Benefit claim in place.
* Empower a caseload of clients, to identify their strengths and goals, and develop their skills, confidence and well-being, so they can successfully maintain their accommodation and prepare for a positive move-on; avoiding a return to homelessness. This may include taking appropriate action in accordance with the Warnings & NTQ Policy and Procedure.
* Provide an effective Housing Management Service.
* Complete regular Health & Safety Checks of properties and the office as directed, including testing alarm systems.

Qualifications / Requirements

* A valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle - business insurance will be required for roles involving travel to work
* The ability to work with people who may display challenging behaviour and to defuse / deescalate potentially difficult situations.
* Have a full driving license and access to a car for work purposes
* Has the courage and commitment to challenge bias or discrimination that impacts the client group
