Job Overview
Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Acute Care Inpatient Psychiatry. The role is based in Ablett Unit, which hosts two adult wards – 10 beds for females (Dinas Female) and 10 beds for males (Dinas Male) – and the Home Treatment Team (HTT). Ablett also includes an 8‑bed male locked rehabilitation ward (Cynnydd) and a 10‑bed older persons’ functional ward (Tegid). The acute care service covers a 20‑bed adult ward and the HTT, with the HTT able to care for approximately 25 patients at any one time.
Main Duties
The post holder will be the treating consultant for inpatients admitted to Dinas Male and Female wards and for those accepted into the HTT. The consultant will provide responsible clinician oversight for approximately half of the adult acute care service (10 beds) and half of the HTT patients, alongside the other substantive approved clinician. The consultant will work closely with the sector consultant, community multidisciplinary teams (CMHTs) and local authorities to provide continuity of and medical leadership to the multidisciplinary team. The consultant will also supervise junior doctors attached to the post.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
Essential Criteria
* Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Included on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of completing CCT.
* Approved Clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
* Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment.
Desirable Criteria
* MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Welsh AC Approval.
* Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
* Experience in leading a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Experience of community psychiatric practice.
* In good standing with GMC, with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
Evidence of training in the core and specialist competencies for community psychiatry.
