Purpose of the role
We are seeking a skilled Assistant Manager to work in LSEG’s Sanctions compliance team, supporting the global business in identifying and managing compliance risks. This role requires a strong understanding of sanctions laws and regulations, and how they are applied and enforced by regulators, with a focus on UK, EU and US regimes. The candidate will conduct thorough sanctions screening reviews, including identifying and assessing sanctions risks through complex corporate ownership structures, and will provide subject matter expertise and advice to the business on sanctions matters with Senior Managers and the Director of Sanctions.
This role is well suited to an experienced sanctions compliance professional looking to develop skills and support a dynamic global business.
What You'll Be Doing
* Handling escalations from first line teams to assess potential sanctions risks related to new client onboarding and existing clients.
* Conducting thorough assessments of the sanction’s status of third parties, including direct and indirect ownership and control.
* Preparing clear summaries and analyses with recommended actions related to sanctions reviews and applicability to third parties.
* Providing sanctions compliance advisory support to regulated and non-regulated business lines and advising management on sanctions matters.
* Processing terminations or suspensions of third parties that fall outside group risk appetite.
* Collaborating with the wider Financial Crime team on operating processes and day-to-day compliance activities.
* Supporting the management and use of sanctions licences, including reviews of General Licences and preparing licence applications.
* Supporting regulatory reporting requirements and engagement with government regulators.
* Monitoring new sanctions developments and changes to programmes or measures, and assessing impact on LSEG business lines.
* Supporting updates and changes to policies and processes.
* Supporting Financial Crime and Risk and Compliance functions to manage evolving sanctions risks.
* Supporting the delivery of training and awareness on sanctions compliance across the group.
What You'll Bring
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification (other relevant industry experience will be considered).
* Previous experience in a sanctions compliance or financial crime advisory role.
* Strong understanding of UK sanctions regimes; experience with EU, US and other regimes is desirable.
* Ability to complete accurate sanctions investigations including beneficial ownership and control.
* Good communication skills and ability to summarize and explain technical concepts to a wide audience.
* Experience in the financial services sector, data and analytics sector, or related compliance or professional services is desirable.
