Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on the day-to-day activities of the regime. This role involves working alongside regulatory reform initiatives and assisting the team in transitioning the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The role duties and responsibilities include:
1. Providing technical leadership in waste classification
2. Leading Hazardous Waste compliance efforts and initiatives to improve compliance
3. Enhancing leadership of priority waste streams
4. Offering technical support focused on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
5. Addressing regulatory challenges, securing long-term improvements, and supporting Defra with circular economy work on Hazardous Waste
6. Focusing on Hazardous Waste enforcement to support actions in the control strategy aimed at reducing offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead in hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.
