Job overview

Waltham Forest CAMHS are seeking an experienced UKCP/BACP registered Systemic practitioner to join our emotional difficulties pathway and as part of the family therapy team. We have a 1 year fixed term post available to cover maternity leave.

The postholder will be expected to provideassessmentsandsupportingdiagnosisforyoungpeoplewithemotionalwellbeingandmental health problem, and prioritizingandmanagingownworkloadwithminimalsupervision. Asoneoftheseniorpractitioners, providing servicestoamulticulturalanddiversepopulation, the clinician will be responsible for delivering a very high standard of care to children and young people andworkautonomouslyandincollaborationwithotherhealthcareprofessionals, statutory and voluntary agencies to deliver excellent standards of care, ensuring the voice of the young person is central to care delivery and outcomes.

Main duties of the job

1. Provide assessments of children and young people referred to the team
2. To undertake risk assessment and risk management for individual children and young people and to provide advice to other professions on risk assessment and risk management
3. Formulate and implement care plans for the treatment and/or management of the child/young person’s problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings
4. Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
5. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of children and young people whose problems are managed by psychologically based standard care plans.
6. Take responsibility for case management of caseload, where appropriate, taking responsibility for initiating planning and review of CAMHS care plans including children and young people, their carers, referring agents and others involved the network of care.
7. Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of children and young people under their care and to monitor progress during the course of multi-disciplinary care.
8. Be responsible for implementing a range of family therapy interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, grounded in the principles and techniques of systemic and family therapy. These will include medium and short term interventions as appropriate to need.
9. Provide specialist expertise, advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to children and young people’s formulation, diagnosis and treatment plans.
10. Contribute directly and indirectly to a framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all children and young people using the service, across all settings and agencies serving children and young people with mental health problems and challenging behaviour.
11. The post holder will undertake triage assessments and any other duties as appropriate to the grade/role and work flexibly across CAMHS/Trust sites to provide cover for absences/service changes when required.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,714 and a maximum payment of £5,941 - per annum, pro rata for part time
