Maternity Receptionist & Administrator

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to join the Reception Team in the Maternity Department. Your role will be primarily to welcome patients and visitors, maintaining the security of the maternity unit. You will also need to be confident with IT and keen to learn to use a number of different systems.
You must be able to work days, including evenings and weekends and have a good attendance record.
Main duties of the job
The main duties are being responsible for managing patients and visitors coming in and out of the maternity unit as well as answering the phone and directing people appropriately. You will receive training to use several different computer systems, including the maternity system called BadgerNet. There will be some administrative tasks related to patient data.
Person Specification
Education & Training
* GCSEs or equivalent demonstrating literacy and numeracy.
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience of being able to work under pressure with fluctuating workload
* Experience of working with different computer systems including data entry
* Experience of learning new skills and working without direct supervision
* Experience of working with digital health systems
* Experience of working in the NHS
Skills & Abilities
* Good verbal communication skills including the ability to welcome visitors and patients to the ward.
* Ability to work under pressure.
* Organisational skills.
* Ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines
* Willingness to learn new skills including basic clinical procedures
* Ability to use a digital record system
* Ability to communicate sensitively and clearly
* Competent in using Word and Excel spreadsheets
* An understanding of the importance of a safe, clean environment
* Knowledge of Information Governance & patient confidentiality
