Are you interested in contributing to the development of the next generation of healthcare and medical professionals? As a Standardised/Simulated Participant (SP), you could help improve student experience and make a real difference to the future of healthcare and medicine.
The University is going through an exhilarating period of growth and development in health and wellbeing, with the College of Health and Science bringing together our 3 academic health care and medical schools:
1. School of Health and Wellbeing
2. Three Counties School of Nursing and Midwifery
3. Three Counties Medical School
This is an exciting time to join the Simulated Patient Programme. You will have the opportunity to work across a variety of healthcare professions and programmes, whilst also having the flexibility to work around your personal circumstances.
Simulated patients are people who are trained to play a specific patient role, which allows our health and care students to practice their communication, consultation and physical examination skills. Simulated patients are trained to realistically portray patient history, personality, physical findings and emotions of a real patient. Simulated patients act as a key stepping stone between the classroom and the clinical environment. Such interactions provide students with the valuable opportunity to practise in a safe environment before they meet ‘real’ patients in the clinical areas.
We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic individuals from all walks of life to take part. We want our participants to accurately portray the diverse communities that we live in and actively encourage people of all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds to get involved.
If you are interested in finding out more, please contact Katrina Ramsden, Head of Simulation and Skills Based Education, via email at k.ramsden@worc.ac.uk
