Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist
Position within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. Post commences immediately. 10 PA contract under Terms and Conditions for Service for Consultants (England) 2003.
Job Overview
Provide general obstetric and gynaecological services across University Hospital of Hartlepool and University Hospital of North Tees. Perform planned and emergency sessions, participate in the on‑call rota and work as a generalist with a special interest in high‑risk pregnancy antenatal care desirable.
Responsibilities
* Deliver planned and emergency obstetric and gynaecology care.
* Participate in on‑call rota.
* Supervise junior medical staff.
* Engage in undergraduate and postgraduate training.
Qualifications
* MRCOG or FRCOG or equivalent qualification.
* Completed recognised training programme in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
* General Medical Council registration with licence to practise.
* On GMC specialist register via CCT (within 6 months), CESR or equivalent.
* Higher qualification relevant to specialty (optional).
Clinical Experience
* High level of clinical experience in all areas of Obstetrics & Gynaecology as required of a UK CCT holder.
* Experience in high‑risk obstetrics and medical disorders in obstetrics.
* Independently performing surgical procedures.
* Obstetric ATSM.
Management and Administrative Experience
* Knowledge of principles of medical staff involvement in management.
* Willingness to participate in management duties and NHS activities.
* Completed clinical audit loop and quality improvement projects.
* Aware of national drivers for safety improvement in maternity services.
* Understanding of health service reforms.
* Good organisational skills.
* Attendance at recognised management course.
Teaching Experience
* Willingness to teach and mentor trainees, nursing, midwifery, non‑clinical managers, undergraduates.
* Knowledge of undergraduate medical education.
* Involvement in running undergraduate education.
Research Experience
* Clinical research publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
* Research qualification.
Other Attributes
* Strong organisational ability and flexibility.
* Excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
* Experience in counselling.
Additional Information
Salary: £109,725 – £145,478 per annum. Closing date 23/04/2026 23:59. This role is unlikely to attract a work‑permit; candidates requiring sponsorship will be considered based on availability of suitable candidates.
