Senior Buyer – Garden Supplies
Location: London
Salary: Up to £80,000 basic (depending on experience)
A leading high street retailer is seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to take ownership of its garden supplies category. This is a key role within the commercial team, responsible for driving product strategy, supplier performance, and category growth.
The Role:
* Full accountability for a garden supplies category comprising circa 1,500 SKUs
* Management and development of a supplier base of approximately 50 partners
* Leading, coaching, and developing a team of 2 direct reports
* Building and executing commercial strategies to deliver sales, margin, and stock targets
* Negotiating with suppliers to secure optimal terms, pricing, and product innovation
* Working cross-functionally with merchandising, marketing, and supply chain teams
About You:
* Proven buying experience within a retail environment
* Strong background in a relevant product category (garden, outdoor, DIY, or similar)
* Commercially astute with a track record of delivering category growth
* Experienced in supplier negotiation and relationship management
* Confident team leader with the ability to develop and inspire others
* Highly organised with strong analytical and decision-making skills
