The School of Engineering at UWE Bristol has an opportunity for an Advanced Materials and Testing Technician to support colleagues within the Laboratories and workshops, utilising their broad-based industrial experience and desire to share exciting learning experiences. Technicians play an important role in the University, this role will support and enable students’ formal learning and will work with students and researchers to carry out and support project work. This is an exciting opportunity to join this enthusiastic team delivering high quality engineering education at UWE. The role will be based in the new School of Engineering building at our Frenchay Campus.
About You
You will have prior experience of technical and teaching environments, delivering demonstration and training to a broad range of learners and users of workshop/laboratories/test equipment, and importantly have experience of proactively taking responsibility for critical safety areas. Ideally you will be experienced in various aspects of workshop and laboratory equipment setup, materials testing, materials science, Instron testing systems, manufacturing and set up of experiments/tests and support of data handling, using relevant software's (It is important the role holder has experience of digital platforms such as MS Office and Teams, Bluehill Universal (Instron tensile and compression testing), Wavematrix (Instron fatigue testing) and has a willingness to embrace other software platforms used in the School of Engineering to help support an relevant and exciting student learning journey.

Interviews will be scheduled to take place at our Frenchay Campus. This is a full‑time, permanent post, working 37 hours per week and is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time. UWE Bristol is a campus‑based University and it is vital to our success and the delivery of an outstanding experience for our students that our campuses are dynamic and vibrant places to learn and spend time. This role is therefore campus based for all of your time, line managers agree to working from home periods.
