Overview
We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded Product Manager - Road & Compact Equipment to join our team. In this role, you'll take ownership of a key product range—making sure it delivers for our customers, supports our sales teams, and aligns with SMT's long-term strategy.
You'll work closely with OEMs, dealers, and colleagues across the business to shape the direction of the products, from launch to lifecycle. That means everything from keeping an eye on market trends and customer needs, to supporting sales and making sure everyone has the information they need to succeed.
You will work closely with the Sales teams and dealers to ensure that they have the support and information required to achieve SMT's market growth and long term objectives.
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver strategic product marketing plans—including pricing, positioning, and promotion—across all relevant industry sectors.
* Lead new product introductions and continuous improvement projects, covering all standard technologies in the product family.
* Manage the full New Product Launch (NPL) process, ensuring timely delivery, compliance with pre-launch checks, and end-to-end readiness.
* Create targeted product campaigns (with OEMs where needed) to grow market share and support margin objectives.
* Provide competitor analysis, develop sales tools and training, and support teams with the insights they need to win in the market.
* Act as the go-to authority for your product range—delivering internal and external presentations and technical guidance.
* Serve as the main point of contact for the OEM, managing day-to-day collaboration and developing regional specifications with Sales.
* Work in line with SMT GB's health, safety, quality, and environmental policies—while supporting additional tasks as requested.
Requirements
* Degree level qualification ideally in; Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, or equivalent experience
* Proven experience in commercial analysis and delivering business improvement recommendations.
* Skilled in developing and implementing strategic plans.
* Strong customer service experience, engaging effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
* Proficient in MS Office, with advanced skills in spreadsheets and numerical analysis tools
* Excellent customer and market understanding with a collabortory approach
* Good negotiation skills and proven ability to communicate at all levels
* Good systems and technical knowledge.
* Works in an effective and systematic manner with proven analytical skills
* A self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative with minimal supervision.
