Overview
PA for 11-Year-Old Boy. Reporting to: Charlotte O’Brien. Location: LS12. Job purpose: To assist with a variety of tasks which will enable/assist the employer/person who needs care and support to live their personal and social life according to their wishes and interests. Service user is an 11-year-old boy who likes to go swimming or trampolining. Enjoys sensory play and watching TV shows like Peppa Pig and Ben & Holly. Service user also enjoys rough play, outdoor activities. Also likes partaking in baking/cooking and arts & crafts. Loves the city of York and the buildings. Service user has Autism.
Behaviour techniques: praise is effective, such as when he is told he’s a good boy/well done; rewards are helpful. If behaviour is triggered by being told no or not getting what he wants, a useful approach is to divert or delay. The service user is patient and good at waiting. Doesn’t like to be watched. When presenting challenging behaviour, allow him some space if it is safe to do so in the setting you are in. This usually allows the service user to calm down and regulate his emotions. It can be useful to ask what it is he wants, and the service user will respond/show you. When possible, ask what he wants and respond accordingly.
