Robert Half are with a Global Financial Services Organisation to recruit for a Linux / Oracle Systems Administrator (Banking) based in London on an initial 24 Month Fixed Term Contract for a Global Financial services Organisation.
Responsibilities:
* Administer and optimise Oracle databases for core banking applications, ensuring high availability, performance, and security.
* Manage and maintain Linux and AIX servers hosting financial systems.
* Perform OS and database upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
* Collaborate with senior IT staff and external specialists for planning and requirements.
* Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting banking services.
* Implement and monitor backup and recovery strategies using RMAN and Data Guard.
* Automate routine tasks via shell scripting and configuration management tools.
* Ensure compliance with IT security policies and regulatory standards.
* Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
* Provide on-call support and incident response for production environments.
* Document procedures, configurations, and operational runbooks.
Experience:
1. 7+ years in Oracle DBA roles (including RAC, ASM, performance tuning)
2. Strong command of SQL and Oracle PL/SQL.
3. 5+ years with Linux (RHEL/Oracle Linux) and AIX.
