Job Description – Salon Manager
Role Summary
As Salon Manager, you will be the operational and cultural leader of Matthew Curtis Hair. You will oversee the day-to-day running of the salon, ensuring every aspect of the client journey is executed to the highest standard. You will also manage the team with confidence and authority, motivating them to deliver exceptional service while supporting their growth and wellbeing.
This is a role for a proven, experienced leader with a strong background in salon or premium retail management. You will balance creativity with commercial acumen, driving performance, ensuring smooth operations, and upholding the brand's reputation for luxury and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
* Operational Leadership: Oversee daily salon operations, including appointment scheduling, client flow, and stock management.
* Team Management: Lead, motivate, and inspire a team of stylists, assistants, and front-of-house staff. Manage HR responsibilities including recruitment, training, performance reviews, and absence/holiday scheduling.
* Client Experience: Ensure every client receives an exceptional and memorable experience, from initial booking to final service.
* Financial Management: Monitor KPIs, budgets, and sales targets. Drive revenue growth through upselling, retail strategies, and service optimisation.
* Brand Standards: Uphold and enforce Matthew Curtis Hair's high standards of service, presentation, and professionalism.
* Marketing & Growth: Support brand marketing initiatives, events, and collaborations, ensuring the salon's profile continues to grow locally and nationally.
* Problem Solving: Anticipate challenges, resolve client concerns, and implement systems that improve efficiency and staff satisfaction.
Skills & Experience
* Proven track record as a Salon Manager or in a senior leadership role within a high-end salon, spa, or luxury retail environment.
* Demonstrable experience in team leadership and people management, with the ability to inspire, coach, and hold staff accountable.
* Strong commercial awareness — confident in analysing sales reports, managing budgets, and driving revenue growth.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a natural ability to build trust and rapport with staff, clients, and partners.
* Highly organised, detail-oriented, and adaptable to the fast-paced demands of a premium salon.
* Passionate about hairdressing, fashion, and delivering a luxury client experience.
