Sports Development Officer City & Neighbourhood Services | Neighbourhood Services Section £19.35 per hour | Main Purpose: Reporting to the Leisure Development Manager, you’ll promote physical activity and sport across Belfast using the Lifelong Involvement in Sports and Physical Activity (LISPA) model. You’ll help develop and deliver strategies, projects, and partnerships to increase participation for all. Key Duties: Develop and deliver sports strategies, business plans, and community programmes. Build partnerships with clubs, community groups, and funders to increase opportunities. Plan and manage events, competitions, workshops, and training sessions. Create and launch new initiatives to engage underrepresented groups. Source and manage funding, grants, and sponsorships. Monitor budgets and evaluate programme success against targets. ️ Represent the Council in relevant meetings and external events. Support and advise clubs on governance, facilities, and funding. Promote sports activities alongside communications teams. Lead assigned projects and manage staff, ensuring strong service delivery. Prepare reports, tenders, and manage suppliers when required. ✅ Essentials: Full driving licence (or access to transport for work purposes). Third-level qualification in leisure, business, or related field OR full membership of CIMSPA or Institute of Sport & Recreation Management. Proven experience in: Supporting sports clubs and community groups. Developing sporting partnerships. Securing and managing sports funding.
