Pupil Support Assistant – Liberton High School
Salary: £25,905 - £26,111 (pro rata for part time and sessional)
Hours: 27.5 per week, 39 weeks sessional
About the role
The City of Edinburgh Council invites applications from candidates for a Pupil Support Assistant post. You will be working as part of a team and there will be many training opportunities to support you in working with our children and young people. Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable. Please note that these posts have a mobility clause meaning there is a chance successful candidates could be moved to a different school in the future.
Working pattern and pay
Sessional information explains how salaries are calculated for sessional (term time) and part time posts. PSAs do not work during the 12 weeks of school holidays; however total salary is paid in 12 equal monthly payments, over the year. There are opportunities to work in a holiday hub provision during the school holidays for successful candidates.
Regulated status and pre-employment checks
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Equal opportunity and culture
We are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included and able to be their best at work. We recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce with different values, beliefs, experience, and backgrounds.
Interview approach
To help achieve our goal, we are moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach. This will help assess how you think and how you would apply Our Behaviours of Respect, Integrity, and Flexibility in your work.
Additional information
You can find more information on Our Behaviours and related guidance within the Council’s materials. Salary ranges typically reflect the initial starting salary and annual increases until the top of the range. Flexible working is welcome. Follow us on X at @edincounciljobs.
