NHS Highland is seeking a motivated and experienced Locum Vascular Surgeon to join our dedicated vascular team at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness. This post is designed to support the local Vascular Service and ensure high-quality, patient-centred care for people across the Highlands.
Key Responsibilities
* Patient Assessment & Clinics:
o Provide local assessment and management of patients with vascular disease.
o Deliver both elective and urgent(“hot”) clinics.
o Vet all GP and inter‑specialty referrals to ensure timely, appropriate care.
* Procedures & Theatre Work:
o While no major vascular operations are performed at Raigmore, appropriately risk‑assessed and regionally supported procedures may be undertaken if you have the relevant skills.
o Procedures may include:
+ Varicose vein treatment
+ Arteriovenous (AV) fistula surgery
+ Minor amputations
* Regional Collaboration:
o Actively engage with the Scottish Vascular Network, coordinating referrals for major arterial surgery to other health boards.
o Participate in local multi‑disciplinary meetings (MDM) and contribute to regional MDTs to plan patient management.
The Team
* 1‑2 experienced locum vascular surgeons
* A highly skilled vascular nurse specialist
* Support from regional vascular services across the Scottish network
Candidate Requirements
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
* Recognised training and experience in vascular surgery.
* Competence in outpatient vascular assessment and minor vascular procedures.
* Excellent communication and team‑working skills to engage with local and regional colleagues.
