Transport Planner Bilston From £28,600 Temp to Perm Full-time 7:30am – 5:30pm (Monday to Friday) We are currently seeking an experienced and proactive Transport Planner to join a busy and growing logistics operation based in Bilston. This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual with a solid background in general haulage planning who thrives in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to forward-plan resources effectively, and a confident understanding of haulage operations, vehicle types, and routing. This role will involve managing day-to-day transport planning responsibilities and acting as a key link between customers, drivers, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities: • Plan and route the general haulage fleet efficiently to ensure maximum vehicle utilisation and profitability. • Maintain high levels of customer service by responding to queries, providing updates, and resolving any transport-related issues. • Coordinate driver schedules, vehicle availability, and trailer planning. • Liaise with sub-contractors and internal departments to ensure smooth operational flow. • Monitor and report on abnormal loads, ensuring all legal and safety requirements are met. • Ensure accurate input of job information into internal systems and issue relevant paperwork to drivers. • Assist with quoting transport services and providing costings to customers when required. • Troubleshoot delivery issues and support drivers with instructions and route planning. Requirements: • Previous experience in transport planning within a general haulage environment is essential. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first attitude. • Strong problem-solving ability and capable of working under pressure in a dynamic environment. • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in data input and documentation. • Confident using Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel. • Knowledge of vehicle types, load types, and routing is required. Understanding of abnormal load planning is desirable but not essential (training can be provided). • Full UK Driving Licence preferred.
