Optegra has an exciting opportunity for a Staff Grade Doctor with ophthalmology experience, especially in glaucoma management, to join our team at Newcastle Eye Hospital. This is a part-time role, 2 days per week, 20 hours, offering a chance to grow professionally with funded training and development programs.

The Role
The successful candidate will support our NHS glaucoma service by providing clinical and surgical assistance, requiring deep understanding of glaucoma management and patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Diagnose and manage glaucoma and ocular conditions
* Perform diagnostic tests like visual fields, OCT, Volk, CCT, gonioscopy
* Manage glaucoma referrals
* Pre- and post-operative patient care
* Collaborate with healthcare professionals for treatment planning
* Participate in team meetings and service development
* Maintain accurate records and compliance
* Educate patients and families about glaucoma
Requirements
* Medical degree from a recognized university
* Valid GMC registration and license to practice in the UK
* Experience in ophthalmology, especially glaucoma, with ability to work independently
* UK NHS glaucoma clinic experience
* Excellent diagnostic skills
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
