The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the business development team by producing high-quality written content for bids, proposals, and tenders across a variety of sectors. With expertise spanning project management, cost consultancy, and advisory services, they work across a diverse range of sectors including commercial, residential, education, healthcare, and infrastructure. Known for their professional integrity and commitment to excellence, our client supports some of the UK’s most prominent public and private sector organisations, providing strategic consultancy and technical delivery services. ROLE As a Bid Writer, you will be responsible for producing, editing, and coordinating the submission of high-quality bid responses, pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs), and tender documentation. Working closely with technical teams and senior stakeholders, you will gather content, tailor responses, and ensure each submission aligns with the client’s requirements and showcases the consultancy’s strengths. This is a key role within the business and offers the opportunity to influence the success of major project wins across a wide range of exciting sectors. RESPONSIBILITIES Key responsibilities of the Bid Writer include: Writing and editing persuasive, accurate, and compelling bid and tender content Coordinating responses to PQQs, ITTs, and proposals in line with submission deadlines Collaborating with project teams and subject matter experts to gather relevant information Maintaining and developing a library of reusable content and case studies Ensuring compliance with client specifications and internal quality standards Supporting continuous improvement of bid processes and templates PERSON To be successful in this role, the ideal Bid Writer should demonstrate: Previous experience in bid writing, ideally within construction, engineering, or consultancy environments Excellent writing, grammar, and editing skills, with strong attention to detail Confidence in communicating and collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with bid management tools is an advantage A proactive, self-motivated attitude with a willingness to contribute ideas and improvements Desirable attributes include: Knowledge of public sector procurement processes Familiarity with government frameworks or framework agreements Experience with Adobe InDesign or similar tools REMUNERATION In return for your skills and contribution, our client offers a competitive package including: Salary up to £45,000 (dependent on experience) Flexible working and hybrid arrangements Funded training and ongoing career development opportunities Company pension and life assurance Employee wellbeing initiatives and a supportive team culture Exposure to high-profile projects across the UK construction industry Atkins Search acts as an employment agency for the Built Environment including but not limited to Construction, Consultancy, Residential and Infrastructure sectors.
