Job Overview: The Trainee Estimator will support the estimating team by completing take-offs and assisting in the preparation of cost estimates for various construction projects. This role offers an excellent opportunity for growth and development within the estimating field, providing hands-on experience and mentorship from experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
* Take-Offs: Perform detailed quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
* Data Entry: Accurately input data into estimating software and spreadsheets.
* Documentation: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of project documentation, including cost databases and estimate files.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the estimating team to support the preparation of comprehensive cost estimates.
* Learning: Participate in training sessions and seek continuous improvement in estimating techniques and knowledge.
* Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with team members and other departments as required.
* Support: Provide general support to the estimating team, including administrative tasks and research.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Basic understanding of construction methods and materials.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Relevant educational background in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
* Experience with estimating software is a plus, but not required.
