We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Maintenance Delivery Manager to be based at our Beckton or Hampton Sewage Treatment Works, depending on your location.
As the successful candidate, you will lead a team of Electrical Engineers/Senior Authorised Persons, providing operation, maintenance, and fault-finding activities on high voltage and primary low voltage systems. This includes overall responsibility for ensuring that the installation of significant electrical assets is controlled through adequate arrangements for construction, commissioning, and handover, in accordance with TWUL asset standards.
Thames Water operates a significant number of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) electrical power networks, which are central to water production and waste treatment for our 16 million customers.
Maintaining the safe and reliable operation of these critical electrical assets requires a high level of knowledge in electrical technology, safety procedures, and providing expert support to core process operations. The teams involved in frontline operation and maintenance need continuous technical support for maintenance, fault investigation, solutions implementation, asset upgrades, and incident investigation.
This role involves frequent engagement with stakeholders from Operations, Engineering, Capital Delivery, and Health Safety and Wellbeing functions.
What you’ll be doing as the High Voltage Maintenance Delivery Manager
1. Managing planned and reactive maintenance activities.
2. Updating records and producing reports on maintenance activities.
3. Engaging with Framework contractors to ensure safety and efficiency standards.
4. Collaborating with stakeholders to align work with operational needs.
5. Supporting asset planning and capital upgrade schemes.
6. Delivering capital programmes managed by your team.
7. Investigating faults and leading serious electrical failure investigations.
8. Maintaining out-of-hours support coverage.
9. Providing technical leadership for plant issues and reliability improvements.
10. Conducting asset surveys and assessments, advising on electrical system operation and maintenance, and supporting risk management.
11. Coaching and mentoring team members for Authorised Person appointments and skill development.
12. Monitoring contractor performance and reviewing safety procedures.
13. Conducting safety audits, delivering safety briefings, and promoting safety culture.
Base Location: Beckton STW – IG11 0AD
Working hours: 38 hours Monday to Friday, with out-of-hours support rota (additional pay applicable).
What you should bring to the role
* Degree or HNC in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
* Formal training in BS7671 electrical requirements.
* Senior Authorised Person appointment.
* Experience in electrical engineering within large industrial utilities or water companies.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations, especially electrical safety rules.
* Operational experience as a Senior Authorised Person.
* Experience engaging with operational teams, contractors, and third parties.
* Mentoring and coaching skills.
* Experience delivering high-voltage electrical maintenance.
* Understanding of Electricity at Work Regulations.
