Overview
We are looking for a creative, high‑energy Jersey & Knit Designer to join our growing team. You will work directly with our Lead Designer to develop fresh, innovative concepts while staying true to our brand's signature aesthetic and taste level.
Key Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Lead Designer to evolve jersey and knitwear categories from concept to final sample.
* Introduce trend‑forward ideas and maintain the brand’s core look and feel.
* Develop detailed tech packs and oversee jersey and knit textures, weights, and finishes.
* Take a key role in design projects and coordinate with buying, merchandising, and tech teams.
* Ensure an efficient sampling process, produce precise design packs, and maintain comprehensive records.
* Support the Design Team with product development, sampling, and stakeholder collaboration.
* Provide task management and support to Design Assistants as needed.
* Build and maintain strong supplier relationships and foster cross‑department collaboration.
* Apply a continuous improvement mindset to identify issues and recommend actionable solutions.
Qualifications
* Deep understanding of garment construction, yarn types, and jersey fabrications.
* Strong creative vision; not afraid to share fresh ideas.
* Positive, proactive 'can‑do' attitude and collaborative spirit.
* Refined eye for design, high‑level taste, and brand alignment in knitwear and jersey.
* Excellent knowledge of yarns, weights, gauges, knit structures, and dying techniques.
* Specialized pattern‑making, sewing, and garment construction experience.
* Ability to translate design concepts into production‑ready sketches and technical specifications using Adobe or similar software.
* Current awareness of fashion trends and willingness to research and learn.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience preparing design presentations and technical packages.
* Experience fitting garments and following styles from sketch to production.
* Ability to deliver designs on time within the seasonal critical path.
* Strong understanding of the JL&P brand, sub‑brand values, and commercial potential.
* Design experience within the retail industry.
Desirable Skills
* BA degree in Design (product, fashion, furniture, textiles, surface pattern, decorative arts).
* Specific sub‑category design experience (e.g., knit, jeans) and a demonstrable portfolio.
Compensation & Benefits
* Salary: £35,000 – £53,000 per annum, based on skill and experience.
* Permanent contract.
* Night Premium: £4.75 per hour for work between 22:00 and 06:00.
* Hybrid working – minimum of 3 days per week in our London Pimlico Head Office.

Location & Working Hours
* Based at London Central Office, 1 Drummond Gate, London, SW1V 2QQ.
* 35 hours per week; minimum of 3 days per week onsite.
* EU and international travel may be required for product development.
