About the role
The Security Supervisor holds a key leadership role in the delivery of security operations across the university, leading, guiding, and supporting the security team to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, faculty, and visitors. This role involves supervising security personnel, monitoring campus activities, and coordinating responses to incidents and emergencies.
The role requires an appropriate level of physical fitness to perform patrols, respond to emergencies, and handle potential physical confrontations and supervisors are required to undertake shift-based work, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
The post holder is required to communicate in a harmonious and professional manner with students, staff and visitors, and ensure the team is delivering service to “Fit For Kings” standards and expectations. This is a full time You’ll work a stable 4-on / 4-off core roster, with the remaining 8 hours per week held in a “bank.” These banked hours are used flexibly to cover busy periods, totalling about 30 extra shifts across the year. You get the stability of a 4-off pattern with the high-earning potential of a 50-hour week. This will be offered on an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
* Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills – ability to work collaboratively with others, provide direction and build effective relationships with internal and external colleagues and service users.
* Proven customer service skills with an understanding of customer and stakeholder expectations and an appreciation of the different demands these place on the role of the security supervisor.
* Proven ability to recognise both positive and negative aspects of individual and team performance, and to take steps to acknowledge good, and address poor performance.
* Proven ability to take control of the response to security or safety-critical incidents, implementing agreed protocols and directing others, to achieve positive outcomes.
* Proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure, taking reasonable and proportionate steps to solve problems.
* Ability to assess, evaluate and understand information to inform practical solutions.
* Ability to make effective use of core IT systems, including (but not limited to) Microsoft Office, as well as systems used for incident reporting / recording, entry control, and other operational systems which may be used.
* Ability to create clear, structured, and professional documents that communicate information effectively.
