We are looking for a confident, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Planning Policy team and help take the Derbyshire Dales Local Plan forward.
The Derbyshire Dales has a wealth of stunning landscapes, beautiful market towns, picturesque villages, flourishing communities, innovative businesses historic buildings, over 1325 are listed buildings; conservation areas; archaeological sites and monuments plus historic parks and gardens – ours is truly a special place to work and live.
The ideal person must have a degree in Town Planning or a related discipline, excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate good research and analytical skills, initiative and solid application, as well as work under pressure.
The successful candidate must have at least 5 years’ experience in planning policy formulation obtained either with a local planning authority or planning consultancy and be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the NPPF and NPPG, as well as the legislation associated with the preparation of Local Plans.

Our Local Plan Review was completed in 2022, and we are now revising policies around biodiversity, climate change and design, and updating housing land allocations in light of a new assessment of needs. Getting these updates ready for submission by June 2025 is a key part of your role.
