This role provides a structured pathway to progress from Grade 4 to Grade 5, subject to the successful completion of identified technical qualifications and the demonstration of full competence across the Mechanical Maintenance Operative duties.

What You’ll Be Doing
As you develop into the fully qualified role, you will support the delivery of safe, reliable, and compliant mechanical services across the University estate. Once fully competent, your responsibilities will include:
· Carrying out essential Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) on mechanical systems and equipment.
· Responding to reactive maintenance requests and undertaking repairs to maintain operational continuity.
· Ensuring all mechanical infrastructure and engineering systems remain statutorily compliant and support a high-quality learning environment.
· Completing minor mechanical works as required.
· Conducting routine housekeeping and safety inspections of engineering plant areas.
Throughout the development period, you will work under appropriate supervision while building the technical knowledge and practical experience required for independent working.

· Meeting performance expectations and operational standards.
