Taylor Root is partnering with a high‑calibre UK law firm with an established international presence to recruit a senior construction lawyer into its non‑contentious practice.
The position provides exposure to large‑scale, high‑value projects across the UK, with some involvement in international matters. The successful candidate will work with a diverse client base including developers, contractors, investors and funders, advising on complex and strategically important schemes.
This is a senior appointment, offering a high level of autonomy and responsibility, including managing significant matters independently and playing an active role in client relationships and wider team development. The role would suit candidates in the 6–10 years’ PQE range.
The Role
You will advise on the delivery of major construction, engineering and infrastructure projects across a range of sectors, including:
* Energy and nuclear
* Data centres
* Roads and transport infrastructure
* Real estate development and regeneration
The team is involved throughout the entire project lifecycle, supporting clients on procurement strategy, contract negotiation and risk allocation.
A distinctive feature of the practice is its balanced client base, acting for developers, contractors and investors/funders, which offers lawyers a commercial and rounded perspective on construction risk from all sides of a transaction.
Candidate Profile
You will be a UK‑qualified solicitor (or foreign‑qualified with prior UK experience) with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE in non‑contentious construction.
You are likely to have:
* Strong experience advising on standard‑form construction contracts, including JCT and NEC
* FIDIC experience (advantageous but not essential)
* A track record of working on large‑scale projects and infrastructure schemes
* The ability to manage matters independently and juggle competing deadlines
* Excellent drafting, negotiation and client‑facing skills
