Role Summary
Lead Radiotherapy Engineer based in the Radiotherapy Physics Department at the Royal Preston Hospital. You will lead a team of 8 engineers and 2 engineering apprentices, working alongside 18 clinical scientists, 12 dosimetrists and a quality manager.
Ideally you will be registered as a Clinical Technologist (RCT). The position provides leadership and day‑to‑day operational management of all aspects of radiotherapy engineering, including recruitment, staff management, service delivery and workforce development.
Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the engineering team
* Oversee recruitment, staff management and service delivery
* Develop and manage engineering staff training and education
* Provide engineering input in research and development activities
* Ensure compliance with clinical and safety standards
* Support the commissioning of new equipment and implementation of treatment planning systems

Qualifications & Experience
* Experienced, highly skilled and motivated Radiotherapy Engineer
* On the register of Clinical Technologists (RCT) or eligible for registration
* Prior experience in a multidisciplinary radiotherapy environment
Equipment and Technology
* Eight clinical Elekta linacs (including two Harmony Pro), all with VisionRT surface‑guided technology, CBCT, flattening filter‑free treatment capability and Response® ABC system
* Two dedicated Philips Big Bore CT scanners with VisionRT surface‑guided technology
* MOSAIQ® and SYNERGISTIQ™ software
* Upcoming commissioning of an Elekta EVO linac and implementation of the Monaco treatment planning system
