The role
A Chef is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality dishes while maintaining food safety, hygiene standards, and kitchen efficiency. Roles may vary from junior to senior level depending on experience and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, cook, and present dishes in line with menu specifications
- Maintain high standards of food quality, taste, and presentation
- Follow food hygiene, allergen, and health & safety regulations (HACCP)
- Assist in menu planning and development (senior chefs)
- Manage stock control, ordering, and minimize waste
- Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization always.
- Work effectively as part of a kitchen team during busy service periods
- Supervise junior staff (for senior roles such as Sous Chef).
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a professional kitchen
- Relevant culinary qualifications (desirable but not essential)
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexibility with shifts, including evenings and weekends
