Cleaner (Facilities Service Operative)
Location: Inverness
Salary: £14.25 an hour
Contract: Initial 1 Year Fixed Contract
Hours: Part time, Monday to Sunday Variable shifts required
We are looking for shifts to be covered between 07:00 – 22:00 Monday to Sunday. Part time staff will be given a fixed shift that is suitable to their lifestyle, however we are also offering some flexi shift working 4 days on, 4 days off.
Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers whilst their claim is being assessed in three regions: Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. At the end of May 2021 Mears had over 19000 service users across the three regions. Mears work in partnership with central and local Government, registered providers, tenants, landlords and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing and create specialist housing for people with care needs.
Role Criteria:
1. Ensure the cleanliness, hygiene, and safety of all assigned buildings and surrounding grounds
2. Clean corridors, offices, and communal areas to a high standard
3. Perform routine cleaning tasks such as hoovering, mopping, dusting, and sanitising surfaces
4. Operate cleaning machinery and equipment safely and effectively (e.g. floor scrubbers, carpet cleaners)
5. Replenish cleaning supplies, soap dispensers, toilet rolls, and paper towels as needed
6. Dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with site procedures and environmental standards
7. Report any maintenance issues, hazards, or damage to the supervisor promptly
8. Follow cleaning schedules and specifications set by the supervisor or site manager
9. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH guidelines
10. Carry out deep cleaning tasks
11. Maintain secure handling of keys and access to restricted areas
12. Support infection control measures, especially in high-traffic or sensitive areas
13. Respond to urgent cleaning requests or spillages in a timely and professional manner
14. Wear appropriate PPE and maintain a clean and professional appearance
15. Work as part of a team to meet daily cleaning targets
16. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic
17. Communicate effectively with staff and visitors when necessary
18. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism within the environment
19. Participate in training sessions and toolbox talks as required
20. Uphold the values and standards of the organisation at all times
