Mandarin Speaking Head of HR– Tech Scale-Up
Salary: £85,000 – £120,000 + benefits including annual bonus, private medical, healthcare plan and more
Location: London – hybrid working (minimum 3 days in the office)
Purpose of Position:
Our client is a leading online marketplace with millions of monthly users across the UK. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high growth tech scale up at a pivotal stage of transformation. As Head of HR, you will lead the People and Talent Strategy while remaining hands on with day to day HR delivery. With around 100 employees and ambitious plans to quadruple revenue, you’ll ensure that organisational design, culture, talent acquisition, HR operations, and workforce planning are aligned to support scalable growth. This role is ideal for an experienced HR professional ready to step up and make a significant impact in a fast-moving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and deliver the HR and Talent strategy aligned with business goals and company vision.
* Own the complete HR remit, covering all stages of the employee lifecycle: Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Talent Management, Organisational Development & Culture, HR Operations & Compliance, Compensation & Benefits, Employee Relations, and HR Analytics.
* Provide both strategic direction and hands on HR support, including transactional activities when needed.
* Partner closely with the HR Operations Support Manager to deliver across all HR verticals.
* Act as a trusted advisor to founders, executives, and investors, contributing to organisational design and workforce planning.
* Drive workforce planning through a Buy, Borrow, Build model to ensure scalability and long-term growth.
* Champion company culture, embedding values of inclusivity, collaboration, and performance.
* Lead change management initiatives and deliver high impact projects that support business transformation.
* Ensure compliance with UK employment law, HR best practice, and company policies.
Personal Specification:
* Strong HR generalist background, ideally at Head of HR or Senior HR Business Partner level, with ambition to step up.
* Fluent/native in Mandarin and English (Cantonese a strong plus).
* CIPD Level 5+ (or equivalent), with strong knowledge of UK employment law and compliance.
* Experience in high growth scale ups (tech, marketplace, or start-up) preferred.
* Skilled in balancing strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.
* Track record of scaling HR functions in fast paced, evolving companies.
* Collaborative, proactive, and “roll up your sleeves” mindset.
* Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, with experience working closely with founders, exec teams, and investors.
* Right to work in the UK is essential.
