Since the early days, we’ve grown to provide many innovative and bespoke care services to thousands of people across England and Scotland. We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.

We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over 100 national and regional awards!

We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.

We have 14 young adults, and our age range is 21 -58.We all valve and respect each other. We all have communication challenges, but we also have our own way of communicating what we want and what we need Our staff are trained in various things such administering medication, Moving and Positioning

We are a family here at Acorn House-and like to help each other out. We love different activities within Acorn House playing pool-table tennis-crafts and going out for walks together. We also like to go to Middlesbrough have our lunch out then home, chilli out in the communal room and watch TV. We all love to do different things. Some of us have jobs, some like going to the pictures- swimming cooking ( we love to share what we have cooked with our peers)-knitting and shopping. We all have the same goals and aspirations which is to be given a voice and to enjoy out lives to the full Our families are so important to us, and we would like you to keep this updated with how we are and what we have been up to. They love and appreciate this especially our Mams All the staff at Acorn will always strive to get the best outcomes for us and so every week they look at various activities within the local community to see what we can do, we also get updates from local authority, “What to do” and day services Fun, Inspirational. Loving, Happy, Determined, Family, this is how we would describe ourselves We all get on with everyone once we get to know them, when people are new to us we are a little reserved but that is short lived.

Our home is always supported 24/7. We have day shift from 9.00-21.00 and core shift 9.00-18.00 .We have a night shift works from 21.00-09.00. All our staff are fun to be with, listen to us, have amazing personalities -and trained in areas of need. We don’t class it as individual flats-we call it our little home.

We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals’ values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.
