Speech and Language Therapist
Location
Hillingdon Granges – primarily Yiewsley Grange with occasional support at Colne, Upton and other Hillingdon Grange schools.
Salary and Bonus
Up to £53,200 FTE (DOE); £5,000 Welcome Bonus (topped up as £2,500 after one month and £2,500 upon completion of probation – T&C apply).
Hours & Contract
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30‑16:30. Permanent contract, with term‑time only or flexible full‑time arrangements available.
Overview
We seek a Speech and Language Therapist to join the in‑house clinical team at Hillingdon Grange, an independent specialist day school for children and young people aged 3‑14, part of the Options Autism brand. The role involves delivering bespoke assessment and intervention for pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs, within the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.
Responsibilities
* Deliver Speech and Language Therapy assessment and intervention to pupils in an educational setting.
* Manage a supporting caseload under the guidance of a clinical supervisor and site lead.
* Contribute to staff training, consultation and multidisciplinary team meetings.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and formulate support plans based on individual needs.
* Implement safeguarding procedures and promote pupils’ independence.
* Engage with families, relatives and carers to provide holistic support.
* Apply trauma‑informed and neurodiversity‑aware practices.
* Participate in training, professional development and pursue further qualifications as relevant.
Essential Criteria
* Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
* Registered with HCPC and RCSLT, with 1‑2 years fully registered experience in a similar setting.
* Experience working with complex, diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience in multidisciplinary working across a range of settings.
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication; good time‑management and organisational skills.
* Competence in core SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of assessment tools, interventions and formulation of support plans.
* Awareness of relevant legislation and its implications for clinical practice.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to ASD and related groups.
Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that influence communication.
* Knowledge of the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
