Behaviour Support Mentor – Gateshead
Specialist SEMH Setting | Full-Time | September Start
We’re looking for a confident, caring Behaviour Support Mentor to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) provision in Gateshead this September.
This is a school that believes in creating a supportive, understanding environment where positive relationships are key, emotional wellbeing is prioritised, and every young person is given the chance to succeed.
If you’re passionate about helping pupils manage behaviour, build resilience, and develop confidence — this could be the perfect role for you.
Your role will include:
* Supporting pupils with SEMH needs, both one-to-one and in small groups
* Helping pupils manage behaviour positively, using restorative and trauma-informed approaches
* Building trusting relationships and acting as a consistent, reliable presence
* Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams, and external agencies to support individual needs
We’re looking for someone who:
* Has experience working with challenging behaviour, SEMH, or in a pastoral support role
* Brings a calm, empathetic, and confident approach to every situation
* Understands the value of positive relationships and emotional regulation
* Is available full-time from September
* Is Thrive trained, or willing to complete this through Protocol Education

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
