About the role:
We're seeking a skilled and driven Test Engineer to join our team at JCB Power Systems, based in Foston, Derby. This site is a global centre of excellence for the design, development, and manufacture of high-performance diesel engines and integrated powertrain solutions, serving OEMs across the globe. In this role, you will be responsible for running and maintaining some of the most advanced internal combustion engine test cells in the world. You’ll monitor engine performance and health using over 300 channels of live data, ensuring optimal operation and reliability. What does this role involve day to day?
• Running and maintaining some of the most advanced internal combustion engine test cells in the world.
• Monitoring and ensuring the engines health using upward of 300 channels of data from the engine.
• Carrying out instrumentation, calibration and maintenance.
• Managing increasingly complex testing regimes and configuring automated test schedules.
• Ensuring the engines calibration and it’s maps are correctly installed and populated
• Measuring & controlling, engine stripping & building, of prototype engines
• Complying to legislative requirements
This will be suited to you if...
• You have an HNC level education or, with exception for exceptional experience; we're increasingly looking for / taking on degree level candidates, due to the ever increasing complexity of the role.
• You have a sound understanding of the modern engines and or the equipment used to test them.
• You have proven experience in development engine testing and fault diagnostics in a test cell environment.
• You have computer literacy to a level where you can run several software application simultaneously, including the test cell control (CP Cadet), ATI / Visu (electronic engine management control), and several bespoke instrumentation software package.
• You have an aptitude for hands on electro / mechanical work.
• You demonstrate initiative and self-motivation
• You are resilient and have a positive attitude
• You have a high attention to detail
• You can work independently and also collaboratively
