Design Manager
Location: Stirling - Central Belt

Your new role
Overseeing the Design process, you’ll exemplify our commitment to Health & Safety, and ensuring quality and best practice will be second nature to you
DUTIES - The fundamental tasks of the job are:-
1. Utilise the various company procedural systems in the manner defined and ensure communications protocols are followed
2. Help create and promote an environment of professionalism in relation to construction works
3. Employ previous sector experience to the benefit of the business
4. Maintain a strong customer focus
5. Support the business to secure new work
6. Adapt effectively to varying environments, responsibilities, people and culture
7. Work with a team and work on more than one project or tender at a time
8. Maintain a business perspective that is reflected in all decisions and actions
9. Demonstrate a strong commercial awareness identifying opportunities and risks
10. Take a strategic view of issues alongside immediate operational requirements
11. Analyse relevant information and identify innovative and effective solutions to issues
12. Anticipate problems and modify plans accordingly
13. Assist in the development of procedures and documentation
14. Assist in the development and maintenance of standard house types
15. Assist the development and maintenance of standard specifications, drawings, details and products
16. Assist RPH work towards Net Carbon and sustainability targets
PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES
17. Manage the project design development through pre-construction concept and scheme design stages
18. Manage delivery of design from both consultant designers and specialist subcontract designers
19. Manage design appraisal and review processes
20. Manage the design process through internal and external review and approval gateways and submissions
21. Appraise design information and report on level and quality of design information with particular regard to adequacy for pricing and construction
22. Identify unusual/abnormal design risks and establish mitigation measures to ensure design can be developed & delivered to the client’s satisfaction with solutions priced out
23. Identify safety risks and consider the health & safety implications of project delivery
24. Manage Third Party peer review teams (external consultants) undertaking detailed reviews and gap analysis
25. Establish strong relationships with specialist supply chain designers to maintain technical knowledge in these areas.
We look for our Design Managers to be degree qualified in a construction related subject with extensive experience within a design management role. You will be confident in your decisions and calm and quick to adjust to unexpected challenges. You will be ambitious and want a career where you can grow and progress
