Job Overview
Hello My Name is Erin Houlihan and I am the Matron for Head and Neck services at the Royal United Hospital in Bath. We have an exciting opportunity for a Head & Neck Clinical Nurse Specialist within our dynamic and specialised team. This is a full‑time, 5‑day post within the current CNS team.
The specialised team facilitates the treatment pathway of patients within the ENT, Maxillofacial and Oncology Departments, concentrating on head and neck cancer. Working closely with other services, we provide holistic care through diagnosis, treatment and recovery, striving for high standards of clinical care, audit, research and patient engagement.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver and maintain high standards of care as an autonomous practitioner.
* Support multidisciplinary team in developing and improving clinical services.
* Implement audit, quality and risk management initiatives.
* Assess patient care and health education needs; develop, implement and evaluate treatment pathways.
* Educate staff on patient care requirements and ensure physical and psychological needs of patients and families are met.
Job Requirements
Essential criteria
* Registered with the NMC.
* Experience managing complex patient caseloads with a patient‑centred approach.
* Ability to provide evidence of excellent communication skills.
* Demonstrated autonomous working ability to deliver nurse‑led services.
* Required UK professional registration.
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of senior clinical service development leadership.
* Experience in head and neck oncology and altered airway management.
* Well‑developed clinical practice in head and neck oncology.
