Investigating Officer (PIP 1)
Location: Mount Browne, Surrey Police HQ (Office Based)
Contract: Minimum 6 month contract with possible extension (start date subject to vetting)
Hours: 36 per week (Mon–Fri, 09:00–17:00 or 08:00-16:00)
Rate: £23.02 (Umbrella)
We are looking for a motivated Investigating Officer (PIP 1) to join the Sexual Offences Investigation Team (SOIT) at Surrey Police.
This role is pivotal in supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. You will conduct investigations into sexual offences, working closely with victims, witnesses, and suspects, while ensuring all enquiries are completed thoroughly, fairly, and to the highest standards.
What You’ll Do
Carry out investigations at PIP 1 level, following all reasonable lines of enquiry.
Take high-quality statements from victims and witnesses that meet evidential standards.
Conduct interviews under caution in line with PACE.
Collect, record, and analyse evidence and intelligence.
Safeguard victims, witnesses, and suspects – implementing risk assessments and protection plans where required.
Prepare and manage case material in line with disclosure rules and CPS guidelines.
Deliver clear, concise updates and reports to supervisors.
Support disclosures under Clare’s Law (DVDS) and Sarah’s Law (CSODS), including applications for protective orders.
Provide ongoing contact and support to victims and witnesses in line with the Victim’s Code (2021).
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in investigations and applying key investigative concepts.
Knowledge of criminal law and the criminal justice process.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Confidence in statement taking and interviewing.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise under pressure.
An empathetic, resilient, and professional approach when supporting victims and witnesses.
The ability to work independently while keeping your supervisor informed.
Awareness of equality, diversity, and inclusivity.
