Assistant CAD Technician / Designer
Salary:
£30,000 DOE + Benefits | Office-based with occasional remote work and UK site visits
The role
We're hiring an Assistant CAD Technician / Designer to produce fabrication drawings for client approval. You'll read and interpret architects' drawings, apply product knowledge, and provide clear design solutions. You'll take direction from a Design Co-ordinator and Contracts Manager, and liaise with customers, suppliers and contractors. Occasional site visits to take dimensions and capture key design information.
You'll handle multiple live projects at once, typically ranging from £1,000 to £300,000, so strong organisation and attention to detail are essential.
What you'll do
* Produce accurate fabrication drawings and documentation for approval
* Read and interpret architectural/engineering drawings and specifications
* Apply product knowledge to propose practical design solutions
* Take site measurements with simple surveying equipment
* Coordinate with internal leads, clients, suppliers and contractors
* Manage revisions and maintain tidy records across several projects
What you'll bring
* HND (minimum) in Computer Aided Draughting & Design
* 2+ years' experience in an architectural, engineering or construction environment
* Experience of Tekla Structural Designer OR AutoCAD
* Confident with Outlook and Excel (Windows)
* Strong numeracy, analytical thinking and attention to detail
* Ability to balance a busy workload and meet deadlines
* Clear, professional communication and a good telephone manner
* Full, clean UK driving licence
