What you’ll be doing
as an Engineering Project Manager
1. Act as the Engineering Project Manager responsible for the design & build of Water Treatment Process including Reservoir storage, chemical dosing and SEMD in accordance with project delivery procedures. For projects ranging in complexity between £100k to £5m in value managed directly by the team.
2. Acting as the Project lead from conception to handover in relation to planned projects or urgent/emergency works. Being able to come up with robust and safe concepts and/or solutions is a key requirement for this position.
3. Take a lead role in the planning and delivery of design & build activities focusing on the design, construction & commissioning elements.
4. Accountable for the developing the projects and documentation for submission through the Governance process to achieve the correct funding to deliver the project as required by the internal stakeholders / client.
5. Work with the team to achieve the time and cost targets.
6. Work with and managing indirectly a wider Thames Water team of multi-function Engineers, Environmental, Construction and Commercial Assurance support.
7. Act as the key contact to support the role of CDM Designer or Principal Designer particularly for projects where the design is undertaken by the inhouse engineers.
8. Be competent in risk management, including risk identification, mitigation and control. Being able to de-risk and add value during the outline design stage is a key requirement for this position.
9. Provide Project Assurance during the delivery, commissioning and hand over of assets.
10. Capable of working on several projects and managing the works awarded to Internal stakeholders, framework suppliers / contractors and external consultants.
Location: Hybrid – Reading (RG2 0SF) or Latton (GL7 5QF) Water Treatment Works
36 hours a week
Competitive salary from £51,705 to £67,000 per annum
What you should bring to the role
To thrive in this role, the essential criteria you’ll need are:
11. Extensive experience in field of Water treatment process design, technical, commissioning and construction assurance, including integration of ICA / SCADA / Electrical elements
12. Degree level or equivalent in an engineering discipline.
13. A focus on supporting and implementing continuous improvement.
14. Good communication and listening skills with a curious mind.
15. Experience in managing project teams and accountability for project delivery.
16. Fully competent at using the appropriate company IT systems and Office software.
Additional skills and experiences would be great to have/bring:
17. Experience of Water Production / Process is ideal along with a good working knowledge of end to end project delivery process in particular commissioning and integration of assets.
