Overview

The Westminster School is seeking a Finance Officer to join our dedicated team and support the financial operations of our special school. The Finance Officer will play a key role in managing financial procedures and supporting the Executive Head Teacher and Executive Manager. The Westminster School is a special school catering to 320 pupils aged 7-19 with a range of special educational needs, and we pride ourselves on delivering a child-centred curriculum and fostering a supportive, inclusive community for students and staff.


Responsibilities

* Oversee the School Fund and daily financial operations.
* Manage income, banking and disbursements in line with financial regulations.
* Generate and process orders, invoices and credit notes.
* Prepare payment runs and ensure cash flow is maintained.
* Handle VAT returns, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
* Administer ParentPay and support bursary assessments.
* Use financial systems including FMS, SIMS, and Microsoft Office Suite.


Qualifications and Experience

* GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Finance/Accounting or relevant experience.
* At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
* Strong IT skills and experience with computer-based accounts systems.
* Excellent attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
* A collaborative approach and the ability to work independently.

Employment Details

* Working hours: 37 hours per week (Mon-Thurs 8am-4pm, Fri 8am-3.30pm).
* Contract: Term Time only + 8 days (of which 5 are INSET days).
* Salary: Grade E, SCP 18-25 (£31,537 - £36,363 p.a). Actual Salary £28,626 - £33,985 p.a.
