The role
Atom Learning is looking for an Analytics Engineer to join our growing team. This is a new role that will exist alongside a well-established Data Engineering and Analytics team, and will deliver tailored data solutions to support various teams across the business.We're looking for an experienced analytics professional who can work independently with stakeholders and deliver tailored data solutions to support various teams across the business.
How we work
You will be embedded within a small number of business functions - as the primary data point of contact - and will partner with them to understand their data requirements and identify opportunities to make an impact on the business using data. Using this knowledge, you will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable solutions to provide the important business intelligence insights that they need.

What you will do
* Collaborate with a number of teams to gain a deep understanding their data requirements and business objectives;
* Develop and maintain robust and consistent data models to power reporting, self-serve analysis, and external platforms such as our CRM system;
* Maintain documentation, data dictionaries, and metadata to ensure data quality and consistency;
* Own the data domain, ensuring that solutions continue to be fit for purpose, are accurate, and that any anomalies are identified and fixed in a timely manner;
* Build and maintain dashboards and other data products that support your business function(s) with decision-making on a day-to-day basis;
* Support your team with designing, implementing, and interpreting the results of A/B tests;
* Monitor your team’s KPIs, and identify drivers of under and over-performance. Communicate this effectively to your team to support them in optimising performance;
* Conduct regular self-directed analysis that will guide and support your team in identifying opportunity areas and making key strategic decisions.
Who you are
* You are passionate about data and its role in solving business challenges;
* You are proficient in SQL;
* You are a great communicator and have excellent data storytelling skills;
* You have experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Metabase;
* You can write clear, readable code;
* You can create reusable solutions to fulfil a brief and support future changes;
* You are highly motivated contributor with excellent teamwork skills;
* You are enthusiastic about working in a rapidly growing start-up environment which focuses on creating a culture of freedom and responsibility.
Work Experience that will set you apart
* Experience using Google BigQuery, or equivalent;
* Experience with DBT;
* Experience working with marketing data;
* Experience working in a collaborative environment using GitHub;
* Desire to mentor junior members of the team.
Our Tech Stack
Our core data storage technology for our application is MySQL, although we are in the process of planning a migration to a cloud-native, scalable database. We also have deployments of Elastic for log data.
For analytics and BI, our data warehouse is Google BigQuery, with Airflow / DBT for ingesting and transforming data. Tableau and Metabase are then used as our visualization/dashboarding layer.
