We are seeking amitted, skilled and proactive Site Supervisor to join the team at a Secondary School in Bolton on a permanent basis. This role is essential in ensuring that the school site remains a safe, clean and well‑maintained environment for pupils, staff and visitors. The Site Supervisor will oversee day-to-day site operations, carry out routine maintenance and minor repairs, manage contractors, support cleaning teams, and ensurepliance with statutory health and safety and building regulations.
Salary: £25,583 – £27,254 dependent on experience
Contract: Permanent - Full-time, All-Year-Round
Start Date: ASAPHours: Monday to Thursday - 3pm, Friday - Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the school site, buildings and grounds are safe, clean and well maintained.
2. Carry out daily maintenance, minor repairs, DIY tasks and pre-planned maintenance.
3. Monitor major works during school holidays and manage contractors on site.
4. Maintain tools, equipment and site supplies; ensure regular inspection and safe use.
5. Oversee cleaning standards and supervise cleaning staff and SMSAs.
6. Open and close the school site, ensuring all buildings are secure.
7. Manage alarms, CCTV checks and report security breaches.
8. Maintain key security and act as keyholder for emergencies.
9. Ensure fullpliance with Health & Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety, Asbestos and Legionella regulations.
10. Carry out weekly and monthly checks, including fire alarms, emergency lighting and legionella tests.
11. Maintain the Fire Safety Log, Asbestos Log and Legionella Log.
12. Monitor and maintain heating systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
13. Record and report energy consumption (gas, electricity, water).
14. Carry out basic repairs and escalate faults to contractors where necessary.
15. Keep drains, gutters and gullies clear and functioning.
16. Receive deliveries, distribute goods, and assist with movement of furniture and equipment.
17. Set up halls and rooms for meetings, assemblies and events.
18. Oversee cleaners and SMSAs, including organising work routines and supporting training needs.
Essential Skills & Experience
19. Experience working in a site supervisor/caretaking role within an education setting
20. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
21. Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks.
22. General maintenance and DIY experience.
23. Goodmunication, literacy and numeracy.
24. Understanding of health and safety requirements.
25. Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends.
Desirable Skills & Experience
26. ICT skills (email, reporting).
27. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
28. Qualified tradesperson (, plumbing, electrics, joinery).
