About Us:
The Airbus Facility Management Technical Apprenticeship provides a full learning experience with industry exposure. Earn a Level 3 apprenticeship while receiving a full-time salary and paying ZERO fees.
What you will be doing
Year 1: Building Strong Foundations
BUILDING SERVICES, ENGINEERING SERVICE & MAINTENANCE ENGINEER; Level 3 qualification provided by GLP Training. Based on our Stevenage Site with 2 days at GLP training facility in Worcester each quarter.
* Get started with a comprehensive site induction – meeting key people who keep our sites running.
* Develop time and project management skills to deliver tasks on point.
* Understand the roles and responsibilities of experts around you and how you will work as part of a high-performing team.
* Explore Mechanical & Electrical systems and how they power our operations.
* Hands-on system testing – decommissioning, fault finding, diagnosis, and replacement of key components across various systems.
Year 2: Growing Your Expertise
* Planned and reactive maintenance – owning risk assessments, work programmes, control systems, and reporting.
* Master air conditioning and cooling systems and optimise Building Management Systems (BMS) for comfort and efficiency.
* Develop customer interaction skills for safe, compliant, and professional delivery.
* Gain working knowledge of essential regulations (PUWER, RIDDOR, COSHH, LOLER, MHOR, PPE, Electricity at Work, Work at Height, Asbestos & Building Regulations).
Outward Bounds
In the second year, attend a week of Team Building Activities at an Outward Bounds UK site with apprentices from various Airbus sites, including activities such as rock climbing, hiking, abseiling and canoeing.
Year 3: Becoming a Specialist
* Develop expertise in water treatment and testing, including legislation, hygiene, and legionella prevention.
* Deepen knowledge of sustainability, measurement, force and pressure, and environmental protection.
* Learn advanced installation, maintenance, and repair techniques with evolving regulations.
Contract Management & Professional Growth
* Build confidence in contract management, supplier management, KPIs, recording, and process confirmations.
* Prepare for End-Point Assessment with knowledge test, written project, practical observation, and professional discussion.
This program blends theory with hands-on practice, supported by mentors and a team focused on innovation, safety and excellence.
Requirements and Qualifications
Eligibility
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Maths, English Language and Science.
Successful candidates will demonstrate
* A hands-on aptitude and enjoyment of practical work.
* Good communication, time management, strong work ethic, and a can-do attitude.
* Ability to work both within a team and independently.
* Ability to follow technical instructions.

GOVERNMENT FUNDING: This job is offered as a government funded Apprenticeship, subject to eligibility for Apprenticeship Levy Funding. Applicants must meet criteria such as not already holding a qualification at the same or higher level in the same subject area. This role may be suitable for school or college leavers, though all eligible applicants are welcome to apply.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: BPSS check; UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control may be required depending on the role.
