We are looking for a motivated Therapy Assistant to join our Acute Medicine for Elderly Therapy team (consisting of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Assistants) This team is part of Acute Therapies Service which is based at North Middlesex Hospital site.
You will assist in the assessment, acute rehabilitation and discharge planning of in-patients under the care of the team and provide therapy input as directed.
You must be an organised and motivated individual who can work flexibly as part of a team and have previous experience of working within a relevant clinical setting.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, be reliable and can work under pressure within an acute hospital setting.
You will be required to participate in seven day Rota .
Main duties of the job
To assist therapists in the management of their caseloads by gathering relevant patients information, implementing clearly defined treatments set by the responsible therapists, for example, exercise programmes for patients with simple non-complex mobility conditions.
To assist therapists in joint treatment sessions when risk assessment defines the need for more than one person to perform the intervention.
Implement therapeutic treatment on a day-to-day basis, including but not exclusively, seating/positioning, functional ADL activities, exercise programmes, falls management programmes and manual handling procedures having immediate access, close supervision, and advice from the responsible therapist.
To assess and monitor a patient's progress/response to treatment and report treatment outcomes to the therapist daily.
To assist in the provision of mobility aids and other equipment following agreed protocols and guided by a therapist's support, as necessary
