Overview
An exciting opportunity to elevate your career by joining the Infection Prevention and Control Team at Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Trust. We are recruiting a highly motivated registered nurse to pursue a career in infection prevention and control. The vacancy is open to internal and external staff, and we welcome applications from experienced RGN, RMN, LD and District Nursing colleagues. The post is based at Darwen Health Centre and will cover visits across the LSCFT footprint. Full training and support will be provided, and there is an opportunity to undertake an infection prevention qualification if desired.
Responsibilities
* Provide advice on IPC practices and patient care across wards and community settings and record this advice on electronic records systems.
* Lead IPC audits in patient environments and community clinic settings.
* Deliver bespoke training according to service needs and maintain the IPC Link Worker role.
* Maintain a visible clinical presence within the Trust; undertake clinical visits in response to alerts about outbreaks, patient infections, or compromised cleanliness standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualified/registered nurse (RGN, RMN, LD, or District Nursing) eligible to work in the NHS.
* Ability to motivate others, prioritise work, and work in a methodical, solution‑focused manner.
* Computer literate with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience or interest in infection prevention and control, with ability to support staff at all levels to maintain high IPC standards.
* Willingness to undertake changes in practice and support the management of change within the service.
